Now that the zombie craze seems to languish, we are still in time to enjoy latecomers with new, or at least slightly tweaked, ideas. Zombie Gunship isn’t anything other than a new take on defense games in which you have to shoot down whatever coming to your base. Unless they’re alive. Yeah, that is.
The main new feature lies in that you are aboard a big aircraft armed with a 25mm gatling gun (upgradeable to gorey proportions) and have to defend the bunker where the survivors are curled up waiting for a cure that won’t arrive, shooting the zees from above. This means a little bit of physics as bullets don’t teleport themselves, and bursts tend to scatter too much. You don’t have to worry about ammo or reloading times, but overheating and reloading times instead. You look for your targets through infrared vision, so zombies are black and living are shown in white. Along some voiceovers now and then, it helps the overall atmosphere, though we would have liked to enjoy other kind of missions and different gameplay mechanics.
